November 20, 2018. Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) has been working hard since the conclusion of the racing season to prepare for the 2019 campaign. Growing and making strides forward each season including 2018 where Brett Taylor captured Josten’s Rookie of the Year honours, CBRT is gearing up for even more success in the future. During the off-season CBRT will be relocating their race shop to St. Thomas, Ontario and forming a strategic partnership with David Wight and Wight Motorsports Inc. (WMI)
An impressive new facility with offices and race shop is being set up now and will be fully operational as of December 1st. This expanded facility will allow CBRT move in with the WMI operation. “There’s a lot of work going on right now,” explained CBRT General Manager Joey McColm. “Once the space is completed, we’ll have a very impressive area as part of the facility for the association with WMI” he added.
McColm believes this partnership is a move that will help all parties. “As all teams do we reviewed our operation following the year and looked for ways to improve our performance. It was during this time that I first began discussions with Dave Wight and how we might be able to work together. We feel this is a move that will give us top level race cars so we can compete for race wins and championships moving forward,” he stated.
Both parties bring significant racing experience but it’s the combination where McColm really sees opportunity. “Everyone knows how hard Wighty (Dave Wight) works. He’s been a big part of championship winning teams and knows what it takes to build fast cars. When you combine that with our organization and development we expect to have opportunities for drivers to arrive at the track and race top-level equipment”.
“Along with fast cars, we have the infrastructure for all of our partners for program activation and to make sure businesses achieve their objectives when they become part of our group. This is a winning combination for everyone involved”.
Dave Wight formed Wight Motorsports Inc. in 2017 and the business has flourished in a short period of time. “With the extra space and our on track success it’s allowed us to take on a project of this size” stated Wight.
The affiliation with these two entities under one roof will provide even greater opportunities for success. “We’ve got everything we need to take the next steps,” said McColm. “The quality and performance of the racecars will be exceptional. When you combine that with all the business aspects and working out of an impressive new facility it really sets us apart from others”.
